Triptych - Wait, We Have a Better Idea by Allison Kotzig belongs to the set of work about her feminist nature. Allison shows her attitude to the threat assigned to women, sexuality, and body parts throughout history.

Allison’s artistic reach is as broad as her residencies: she lives in both the United States in Miami and Europe -Slovakia.

Allison Kotzig is an international artist based in Slovakia and Florida.

She has degrees in Neuropsychology and Medieval History. She is a

board member of Earthcause, a non-profit supporting projects around

climate change, protecting the natural world and displacement. She is the

co-founder of cook4refugee, a project that brought together volunteers

to cook and deliver fresh food to people during the refugee crisis in

central Europe. She is the co-founder of the collective Artists for Black

Lives Matter. Her work focuses on concepts of impermanence, myth,

feminine power, fertility, cyclicality and infinity. Current work explores

ideas of human-plant-animal-spirit communication with a focus on the

idea of the mycorrhizal network. Portals to other worlds/dimensions are

a major theme. Immersive video installation involving forests is a

hallmark of her work. The use of recycled and upcycled materials is a

protest against extractive colonial paradigms. Part of her practice

involves artistic deconstruction of social justice and non-human- human communication. Instagram: allisonkotzig.

Here at Oakey Doakey Art Gallery, we love the ocean as much as we love art. The beauty and power of nature is a major inspiration for many of our gallery’s art pieces. Because of this 5% of every art purchase through our gallery goes to our social initiative #OakeyDoakeyonamission: Artists against garbage where we use donations to organize local meetups to collect garbage from our oceans, rivers, and streams.
